Blueprint Design Workshop Collaboration

Recently, we were so excited to be asked to be a part of a fabulous workshop created by our dear friend Emily, owner of Emily Clarke Events.  She brought together a panel of creative partners that were full of insight, talent and experience to assist attendees in really embracing the designer within themselves.

Forum attendees arrived to the Garden Room of the gorgeous Rosewood Crescent and were greeted with a bright & sunny room just waiting for them to soak up all the goodness the day had in store for them!  The view onto the outside courtyard gave off that perfect welcoming feeling and the sleek setup lent itself to each attendee being able to focus on the speakers while still taking in the clean lines and beauty.

All the details were thought of, it was a design workshop after all!    The name tags were a gorgeous blue lucite, the floral from Branching Out was perfect in the space and each guest started the day off with some goodies, like custom clipboards.  Oh, but those clipboards were so much more than clipboards!  The design was thought up by Emily and her team and Artifacture made that idea come to life!  Each white lucite clipboard top came off revealing some essential tools every good designer needs; back to the basics with pencils, colored tape and more!

The morning session jumped right in!  Opening up was the woman behind the workshop, Emily Clarke!   She chatted about her love for a good destination wedding and how her keen eye for design and embracing the location's charm takes each event to a higher level.  Next up, was Dallas' own, Todd Fiscus of Todd Events  who discussed the importance of creating an impactful room.  He kept the crowd leaning in for more with his jovial demeanor and honest approach.   Sam Roberts of Maids of Social spoke on all things social media, the all important topic of photo styling, and we were dying over her fringe skirt!   Walt Shepard, publish and editor-in-chief of Inside Weddings, focused on how to get your designs published and with his editor's eye, all were intrigued.

Lunch time!  Guests swooned over the gorgeous lunch setup in the Courtyard and the weather was a spring time dream!  The loose & flowy florals with pops of citrus by Todd Events was perfect for practicing those Instagram photo ops.  The gorgeous wooden menus were made by Ceci New York and tied in perfectly with the light and airy surroundings. Pictures of the new rose lucite chairs from Posh Couture Rentals were immediately snapped up for client designs.  The lunch trio was the perfect service style for a quick lunch and a little bowl of macarons gave just the right amount of a sweet finish.  The napkin holders were adorable sunnies with each name created by the Detail Department!

While guests were enjoying the tasty lunch, Bonjour Boxes was busy setting surprise gift boxes at each seat.  The girls with Emily Clarke Events made a quick seating chart during the morning session so we could give each guest their own personalized card made by the ever so talented, Left Handed Calligrapher, Nicole Black!  An adorable design recipe box was also set at each place with tips, words of wisdom and motivation from each speaker to keep the ball rolling far beyond the end of the day.  In the flurry of the setup, we took a conscious moment to take in the amazing opportunity to present our gifts to so many fabulous creative partners.

The afternoon session began Julian Leaver, who is the #DapperDiplomat, and spoke on all things etiquette related as well as the importance of a well thought out tablescape.  Ceci Johnson discussed the importance of branding your design business and shared the moving quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupery, "A goal without a plan is just a wish."  Debby Jewesson, creator of Branching Out Event Design shared her insight on nurturing creativity and gave a fabulous analogy of butterflies; while they are all beautiful, they are also all unique and stressed the importance of being an original butterfly.  Following the individual presentations, there was a panel Q&A where the attendees could delve further into their burning questions!

And what's a workshop without a little cocktail mixer to wrap it all up?!   Guests clinked glasses of prosecco and popsicles and lounged on the fabulous daybeds from Perch Decor overflowing with colorful pillows.  It was a fabulously informative day and we raise our glass to Emily and her team for a job, beyond, well done!   Thank you for the amazing opportunity!  And a huge thank you to the ever talented, John Cain Sargent for all the amazing images captured of the day!
